Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot in Horween Shell Cordovan

I've been considering the 1000 Mile Boot line from Wolverine for a while now (still not sure) and just when I thought they couldn't improve the look I'm hit with this: Leffot in NYC now has this Wolverine 721 LTD model in Horween shell cordovan. Killer. I couldn't drop this kind of dough in good conscience on something that can't be driven, shot, or strummed but I'm sure somebody out there will be able to justify the price. Only 1,000 pairs of these hand-numbered boots are being made so get 'em while you can.

Found Memories: Dad's Vintage Vasques

If memory serves, the last time my dad wore these was in the mid-eighties in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  I used to love seeing pictures of that trip.  He was on active duty at Nellis Air Force Base at the time and had a few days off.  He and some of the other guys from the Oklahoma ANG spent that time camping and climbing.  I was so jealous when he got back home and I saw the pictures.  Shortly after, these boots went into storage and the last time I asked about them I was told they had been thrown away.  I got a pair of China-made Sundowners in the early nineties and have trying to wear them out since then so I knew wherever these Italian-made beauties had gotten off to they were holding up.  Last month when I was back home I found them in a rented storage building, along with a few other items that were thought to be long gone.  I've already started cleaning these up and they're looking great (I'll post the "after" pictures when I'm finished.)  Here's to found memories.

On Sale: Aigle Nemrod Boots at J.Crew

This classic rubber boot is currently on sale for $119.99 in sz 10-12. Not a bad price considering these are still built in France from all natural rubber.  Get a glimpse of the process in the video below and tell me you're not tempted:

Eye-Catcher: LL Bean Signature Boots FW2010

So far, these boots have been the only offering from the forthcoming LL Bean Signature collection that I have looked twice at.  Now, if only they were being made stateside.  (But then they'd be more than $149.)

Quoddy® and J.Crew

Among the latest batch of classic American brands to be picked up by J.Crew in their ever-growing "partnership" effort is the legendary Perry, Maine shoemaker, Quoddy® .  I happen to love Quoddy products (my boat shoes are pictured below) so I'm glad about the potential visibility boost that comes with the J.Crew add.  While it might seem like a less logical pairing than Quoddy's association with more independent labels who offer primarily American-made items (like South Willard or Freeman Sporting Club) I still think it works.  So far, it looks like only three models have been picked up and only one of them is for men.  I found the Grizzly Boots through a search on jcrew.com but I cannot find them linked to the front page of the shop so I'm not sure if these are officially announced yet.  In any case, if you are looking for a pair of individually hand-made moccasin boots constructed from Horween leather, these may be just what you need.

Bean Bison Boots

The rain in our fair city hasn't let up for days.  Luckily, our feet have been wearing these.  Bison leather.  Handcrafted in Maine. Great with rolled up denim, corduroy, wool, and khakis, to name a few.  Shop the selection here.
