Barbour Middleburn: Simple Is Good

Leslie of Archival Clothing posted a shot on twitter today of a fellow spotted wearing a Barbour Middleburn. Though not a model seen often compared to the ubiquitous Bedale and Beaufort (Orvis lists it as "NEW" -- this could be the reason) I'm completely into the simplicity of the slash pockets and the single left top pocket. According to Barbor's website the Middleburn is available in Rustic (brown) and Black (though Orvis only stocks the Rustic.) I'm putting this on the list.

  1. Ugh, the stupid "Barbour" embroidered on the chest pocket. Will this vulgar branding/marketing never stop making inroads into clothing? Can they not simply restrict it to womens' clothing - who seem to like brandishing brands......

  2. Great looking jacket. I like the color rustic better than the ubiquitous green. I would probably miss having the bellows pockets.

  3. I go in the opposite direction with my Barbours. More pockets please.

  4. Thanks for the comments. There's no doubt that the Middleburn is a far cry from the classic aesthetic but visually, it's a nice change.
