  1. This is not at all meant to be snarky. What's with the replica pistol? I've never considered traveling with a replica pistol and I'd like to know your thoughts.

  2. Rulingpart- Not sure if you're curious about the choice of the repro vs original or the choice of a firearm in general. I figure a repro of a 19th century pocket pistol is more realistic than an original because even if you had an original you probably wouldn't travel with it. That being said, for most of us, traveling by train (on the orient express no less) with a firearm in your jacket pocket is about as realistic as shelling out the money for a Smythson passport cover. But if I could, I would. Thanks for the comment.

  3. Oh! So the list of stuff is aspirational. There was something really appealing to me about traveling with a derringer, and then I clicked on the link and saw that it was a replica and I genuinely just wanted to know your thoughts.

Very interesting, and your blog is fantastic.

  4. Ah, yes! Now I see what I've done. I don't recommend carrying a non-operational gun. The truth is, that was the very best photo of a derringer I could find so I used it. As far as ACTUAL derringers go, I like the look of the Cobra stuff here: http://www.cobraderringers.com/category/96-Cobra_Derringer_Pistols.aspx and I would feel much better about protecting myself with one of these over the replica I listed. Thanks for stopping back by!
